Dear leaders of the NY Area Region,
The start of this year has delivered so many great acts of Tikkun Olam, yet there is much more to be done. NFTY-NAR believes in diversifying the issues we address and bringing NAR to the forefront of change within our local and regional communities. For this reason, I have worked throughout the last few months to establish partnerships with regional and subregional organizations with whom temple youth groups (TYGs) may pick from in order to kick off a more long-term act of Social Action. Through these partnerships, TYGs can expand their involvement and outreach within the community, broaden their goals, and grow in membership and activity.
The organizations listed throughout the attached packet are excited to start working with your youth groups. They cover a wide variety of causes, ranging from hunger to disease to gun control, and provide opportunities for projects, programs, and hands-on involvement. The choices are organized by the subregion they apply best to, though some work for any TYG.
Interested TYGs can choose one organization to work with for the 2015-2016 year, with a level of commitment that follows the given guidelines with the packet. Please email me with your selection by December 15, 2015, and reach out to your organization as soon as possible. You can reach out to me with any questions, concerns or comments at firstname.lastname@example.org.
On behalf of the entire Regional Board, we look forward to working with many of you to see this project come to fruition throughout this year.
