NFTY NAR Staffing Changes

Dear NFTY NAR Community, Synagogue Professionals and Partners,

It is with mixed emotion that we are emailing to share that Imogene Winkleman will be leaving her position as NFTY-NAR’s Regional Advisor on March, 15, 2019. As an alumna of NFTY-NAR, Imo has had an incredible impact on both NFTY-NAR and the entire URJ Youth Department. She has not only influenced hundreds of teens and adults, but has done so with incredible depth and intentionality. Imo has excelled at developing rich content and meaningful experiences for so many participants, especially the Kol Isha and Kol Koleinu Fellows.

While we are sad to see Imogene leave, we are excited for the next steps of her journey with Girl Scouts of America. Please join us in wishing Imogene the best of luck and thanking her for her tremendous contributions.

NFTY-NAR will continue to be well supported with Josh Squire’s able leadership, and we are confident that we will finish out this calendar year, and plan for next year, with much success and ruach (spirit)! Please continue to email Josh or for questions about youth engagement and other programs in the region. You can find details about upcoming events on the regional calendar.

The Kol Koleinu: Teen Feminist Fellowship will continue to be supported by URJ Youth Leadership and our partner organization, Moving Tradition. Rabbi Liz Zeller, NFTY’s Director of Learning and Innovation, will take on mentorship of this program and the fellows. For questions about Kol Koleinu please contact Liz at

We plan to use this staffing change as an opportunity to work with our Northeast URJ Youth partners (Eisner, Crane Lake, Sci-Tech, Kutz, Northeast Teen Collective, and NFTY-NE) to continue to deepen our holistic approach to youth engagement throughout the entire Northeast. As such, we will review the staffing needs of the region and will notify the community when new staffing opportunities arise. See below for a note from Imogene.

Thank you,

Beth Rodin Managing Director NFTY

Emily Messinger Director Northeast Teen Collective

A Note from Imogene:

NFTY NAR has not only been my professional home for the last 3+ years, but it is also the region where I grew up and, in many ways, where I became who I am.

It has been a privilege to experience countless moments of growth, community, activism, and NFTY magic with you all. I continue to be inspired by the dedication, power and spirit that our teens show during each event and each planning meeting. And, I have been especially proud to be able to witness our Regional Board members strengthen their leadership and to help Kol Koleinu fellows grow into their own identities as feminist activists.

While my next steps will be outside of the NFTY world, I will bring with me the many lessons I’ve learned throughout my time at the URJ, and will always remember the power of our teens. You can continue to reach me at

I am confident that Josh and our Regional Board will finish out an incredible year together, and I can’t wait to watch our community succeed from the sidelines.
