Meet Our Regional Board
Hannah Hirsch, President
Hannah attends Schreiber High School, where she participates in women’s club, school newspaper, and photo club. Last year, Hannah served as NAR’s Long Island Director of Subregional Events, and has previously served as the Strategic Planning Chair on cabinet. Hannah also has a special place in her heart for her TYG, POWTY! Apart from NFTY, you can find her drawing or baking.
Chloe Werner, Programming Vice President
Chloe Werner is a senior at New Rochelle High School. In her spare time, she enjoys doing improv, stand-up comedy, theatre, writing, and social action. She is very proud of being Jewish, and, according to her friends, talks about it a lot! Some of her other interests include reading, eating Amy’s frozen burritos, and film. She is super excited to serve as PVP so that she can help to make the region the best that it can be! She can’t wait to create super engaging programs that a wide range of people can enjoy.
Adam Weingast, Religious & Cultural Vice President
Adam Weingast lives in the city of New Rochelle and is a senior at New Rochelle High School. Last year, Adam served as co-Head Songleader and on NAR's Kallot Committee, Adam served as President of his temple youth group, TIFTY. In Spring 2017, he attended URJ Heller High in Israel, where he fell in love with--you guessed it--the religious and cultural aspects of Judaism and our values. He is so excited to serve our region as RCVP and can’t wait for next year!
Rachel Landis, Social Action Vice President
Rachel Landis is a Junior at Bronx Science. She has been going to Camp Harlam for seven years, and love participating in social justice activities. She is a Kol Isha fellow and a two-time SAVP of her TYG CRuSTY. In school she is her homeroom’s senator and last year was the co-captain of the JV soccer team. When not protesting or organizing a rally, she can be found re-watching Parks and Rec or baking.
Benny Forstadt, Membership Vice President
Benny Forstadt is from the Upper West Side of Manhattan, where he lives with his parents and his two younger brothers. He is an acting student at LaGuardia Arts High School. He loves writing and hopes to one day pursue a career in that field. Last year, Benny served as the New York City Director of Subregional Events for NFTY NAR. Benny has discovered his Jewish identity through his affiliation with NFTY, and he is so excited to continue serving the region as Membership VP.
Matthew Klein, Communications Vice President
Matt Klein is a senior at New Rochelle High School and lives in New Rochelle, NY. He previously served as the Communications Vice President of his TYG, TIFTY, as a member of NFTY-NAR’s Communications Committee and as co-head songleader. When not at a NFTY event or at his Temple, Matt can be found taking pictures, watching tv, doing community service, playing the guitar, going on debate trips with his school, or playing basketball or tennis. Matt is very excited to serve as the Communications Vice President.
Madison Lazar, Long Island Director of Sub-Regional Events
Madison Lazar is a senior from Roslyn, NY and belongs to Temple Sinai of Roslyn. Maddy has served on the Long Island Membership Committee for two years and on Kallot Committee last year year. She is active in hertemple’s youth group, SORTY, and served on board for three years. Outside of NFTY, you can find her spending time with friends, playing tennis, watching Netflix, or participating in club activities at school. Maddy loves spending summers at herhome away from home – Eisner Camp. Maddy loves Long Island and is excited to serve as Long Island Director of Sub-Regional events this year!
Joshua Fielding, New York City Director of Sub-Regional Events
Joshua Fielding is a senior at The Dalton School in New York City where he resides. He’s been in NAR, and serving on the NYC Subregional Committee, since his sophomore year. During the summer, you can find him at URJ Crane Lake Camp or at The Alisal, a guest ranch in California, and during the winter, you can find him skiing out west. Otherwise, you can find him chilling with his dog, Albie, or debating. Josh is excited to spend time with NARites in New York City this year!
Nicole Murace, Westchester/ Fairfield Director of Sub-Regional Events
Nicole is currently a junior at Stamford high school in Connecticut. When she isn’t with her friends at NAR you can find her dancing almost everyday or watching Netflix. Last year, Nicole served as PVP of her temple youth group, SoSTY, was a fellow in Kol Isha: NY Teen Feminist Fellowship, and is currently spending her summer at URJ Kutz Camp. Nicole loves everything NFTY and Beyoncé so feel free to talk to her about either. She is so excited to be running for your next Westchester fairfield director of subregional events!
NFTY New York Area is governed by a board of nine teen leaders who are elected by their peers that serve a one-year term. Regional board members play a critical role in all aspects of running the region including event planning and marketing, and mentoring teen leaders from our local youth communities. The regional board is mentored by a full-time Regional Director of Youth Engagement who oversees all programmatic and administrative aspects of the region.
