Meet Our Regional Board
Ella Corn, President
Ella is extremely excited to serve as the 2017-2018 NY Area Regional President. Ella lives in downtown Manhattan and is a Senior at LREI. She has spent 3 summers at the URJ Kutz camp and loves all things NFTY! When not planning events you can find her playing volleyball, swimming or cuddling with her puppy while watching Netflix. She loves talking about her dog, food and NFTY so don’t hesitate to reach out! Ella is pumped for the year ahead and can’t wait to make it happen.
Morgan Salomon, Programming Vice President
Morgan Salomon hails from White Plains NY, where she is a senior at Solomon Schechter School of Westchester. When she isn’t watching Netflix or singing theater music a little too loudly, she can be found giving Instagram caption advice, or taking Snap chats with her best friend Penelope the Programing Primate. She loves all things NFTY NAR; so feel free to ask her about it. She is excited to serve as your 2017-18 NFTY NAR Programming Vice President.
Sam Pekats, Religious & Cultural Vice President
Sam Pekats is a two-time NFTY NY Area Region Religious and Cultural Vice President, born and raised in New Rochelle, NY. Besides going to TIFTY meetings and working as a teacher in his religious school, Sam loves playing Mahjong with friends or going to NYC to find cheap-yet-great restaurants. As a two time alumnus of URJ Kutz Camp, past member of the Kutz Camp Fellowship, and singer in Hazamir, The International Jewish High School Choir, Sam is happily and strongly connected to his Jewish community. Being a part of such an awesome community of passionate peers, Sam can’t wait for all the amazing things this year will have in store.
Rikki Gassman, Social Action Vice President
Rikki Gassman is a senior at The Wheatley School in Old Westbury, New York. She is the former Co-President of her Temple’s youth group, SORTY, and Co-Social Action Chair on NAR’s cabinet. When not obsessing over all things NFTY, Rikki can be found recycling with her school’s Environmental Action Committee, volunteering, eating sushi, or watching Netflix. She’s ecstatic to serve as the 5777-5778 Social Action Vice President of NFTY-NAR.
Daniel Goldstein, Membership Vice President
Daniel Goldstein is ecstatic to be serving as the New York Area’s Membership Vice President. He is a resident of Scarsdale and its high school and the former Development Chair. He has been in NFTY since 10th grade. When he’s not doing something NFTY-involved he plays tennis, skis, or reads.
Jamie Horowitz, Communications Vice President
Jamie Horowitz is a senior at the Wheatley School and lives in Roslyn Heights, NY. She was formerly Co-President of her temlpe youth group, SORTY, and serves as a member of NFTY’s North American Committee called the Tikkun Olam Project. When not participating in her “Jew-things,” as her friends put it, Jamie can be found taking pictures, doing community service, and playing with her puppy, Harley. Jamie is absolutely thrilled to be NFTY NAR's next Communications Vice President!
Hannah Hirsch, Long Island Director of Sub-Regional Events
Hannah Hirsch is currently a junior at Paul D. Schreiber High School. She has loved being an engaged member of NAR since her first event in eighth grade, and she has previously served on NAR Cabinet as the Strategic Planning Chair. Hannah is also a proud member of her Temple Youth Group, and she has served for two years on POWTY’s board. In addition to all things NFTY, she loves traveling, taking photos, baking, spending time with family and friends, and so much more. Hannah is thrilled to see the New York Area Region thrive while serving as the Long Island Director of Sub-Regional Events for the 5777-5778 term!
Benny Forstadt, New York City Director of Sub-Regional Events
Benny Forstadt is from the Upper West Side of Manhattan, where he lives with his parents and his two younger brothers. He is an acting student at LaGuardia Arts High School. Benny loves writing and hopes to someday pursue a career in that field. Benny has discovered his Jewish identity through his affiliation with NFTY, and he is so excited to serve the region as New York City Director of Sub-regional Events.
Moriah Pardo, Westchester/ Fairfield Director of Sub-Regional Events
Moriah Pardo is from the diverse city of Stamford, Conneticut. She has served as Membership Vice President on her temple youth group board, SoSTY. She’s currently a Senior at Westhill High School where she is a member of the varsity ski team. During the summer you can either find her kayaking in the Catskills or having fun at Eisner Camp. When not participating in something NFTY-related, Moriah can be found hanging with friends or sketching on anything and everything.
NFTY New York Area is governed by a board of nine teen leaders who are elected by their peers that serve a one-year term. Regional board members play a critical role in all aspects of running the region including event planning and marketing, and mentoring teen leaders from our local youth communities. The regional board is mentored by a full-time Regional Director of Youth Engagement who oversees all programmatic and administrative aspects of the region.
